WHY ARTS EDUCATION?

Open Arts Alliance believes that Arts education is crucial to the development of all students, both young and old. It is connected to academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and opportunity. Young students who participate in the arts have shown an average increase of 22% in Math scores as well as a 15% increase in Reading, English, and Social studies. In older adults it has been found to improve cognitive, emotional, physical, and psychological wellness. Arts education has been used as a therapeutic strategy for individuals who have experienced illness, trauma and other challenges. It is our goal to shine a light on what is possible with the power of ART!
