Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by the Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

What should my child prepare?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

Your audition video should include a slate before you begin your audition. A slate is simply stating your NAME, AGE, GRADE, and SCHOOL.

Each child must sing a small section of any song they wish. This should be a song they are comfortable performing. Anything from “Happy Birthday” to “Let It Go” is great by us!

IN ADDITION, each child needs to record a monologue of their choosing from the  provided materials on the auditions page of our website.

Video submissions should be limited to one video per applicant.

Music and monologue must be on the same video.

If there are multiple casts of the show...will everone be at rehearsal ALL together?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

No. Casts will be staggered to ensure maximum social distancing while allowing students to bond with their fellow cast members and production team.

CLUE:

This production will rehearse scene by scene, and actors will be called to rehearsal as needed.

About the REhearsals

Will rehearsals be in-person?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

Because we believe in community that is formed through theatre, our intention is to utilize a hybrid model of rehearsal. At this time we plan for students to rehearse twice per week – one of these rehearsals will be digital – the other will be live with a limited number of students in social distancing form. In general, music rehearsals will be held digitally and blocking/scene-work will be the focus of in-person rehearsals. This is to keep rehearsals organized and safe for students, faculty and production team members.

As the Covid-19 pandemic evolves we will do our best to adhere to the safety guidelines and protocol of the state.

CLUE:

Rehearsals for this production will be entirely digital.

What does social distancing look like at rehearsal?

Every child will have their temperature taken at the door and have their own “station” to stay at while they are not in a scene or onstage. Every adult helper and student will be given their own PPE. The common areas will be wiped down between groups and any costumes that are shared (there are very few – most participants have their own costume) will be steam cleaned between performances.

What happens if Covid-19 creates mandates for another period of quarantine?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

We believe both rehearsals (and performances of) this production have the ability to successfully executed digitally. This means that should the pandemic mandate require strict quarantine, we feel we can accomplish the project virtually in a successful way for our students.

CLUE:

Rehearsals for this production will be digital. As such, we do not anticipate rehearsals being interrupted due to any changes in pandemic mandates.

What sources are you using to base your decisions on for the saftey of our community?

At Open Arts Alliance, we take safety very seriously.

We are consistently monitoring the present state of the Covid-19 crisis and base many of our decisions on the following institutions and the information they provide:

About the Productions

When are the shows?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

Performances will occur on April 24, 2021.

CLUE:

Performances will occur on April 9th-11th, 2021.

Where will the shows take place?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN…

will take place outside on a private non-profit campus in Greenwich, CT.

CLUE…

will take place online.

How will audience social distance during the show?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

Due to the pandemic we will not be advertising or welcoming community members to the show. This will help us keep our audience sizes safe and allow for social distancing practices to keep our student performers, audience members and production team safe.

CLUE:

Audience members will have the thrill of watching from the comfort of their couch!

What if the show has to be cancelled?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

We chose this show because we feel confident that we can execute the small-actor production. If the show must be performed digitally, we have secured the rights to stream the production so that families may enjoy the hard work of their students. Again, our intention is to present the musical outdoors in April of 2021.

CLUE:

We chose this show for our high school aged actors – because we feel confident that we can execute this fun whodunit production.

What if it rains?

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN:

While we hope to present this production outside in April, there is the possibility of rain. IF social distancing is allowed at the time of the performance – the performance will be moved indoors. If this cannot happen – the performance will be streamed for audiences to enjoy from home. In addition, we ask families to save April 25, 2021 as a rain date for the performances.

CLUE:

Indeed- it WAS a dark (and stormy night)…rain will not prevent CLUE.

How is the decision about location made if the weather (or Covid) intervene?

Based on the weather forecast and the current COVID climate, the Executive staff of Open Arts Alliance will make a decision as to where any and all live performances will take place and how and when they will happen. All decisions on such matters are final and at the discretion of our staff. Our intention is an exciting performance celebration and our hope it’s to celebrate with all of you (in person), but safety (as always) remains our foremost priority.

Where can I purchase tickets?

Reservations will be available for both productions as we near the performance dates. Tickets for performances will be sold to families in advance to ensure that everyone can enjoy the performance! More information will be available online.

What about summer 2021?

Join us for SEUSSICAL KIDS! Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza! Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Great fun for the whole family. Young performers will be excited to portray the characters from the popular Dr. Seuss books.
